More Prince Edward County

Picture - In front of The Grange Winery. The winery is located in a very pretty out of the way country setting. The ambience is one of quiet seclusion and back to nature with rolling fields, wetlands for waterfowl and original lanes where one can see deer and pheasant. In our opinion it is the best one in the County.

Picture - Main Winery building of The Grange. This building houses the winery, wine shop, tasting room and restaurant. Originally built in 1830 this barn encompasses over 10,000 sq feet.

Picture - Restaurant and Tasting Bar.

Picture - Vineyard The Grange. The vineyards are located on rolling hills of farmland. They are surrounded by woodlots and have a dam and wetland which was built by a non profit organization Ducks Unlimited.

Picture - Winery Building Closson Chase Vineyard. This is owned by TV and film producer Seaton McLean with actress-wife Sonja Smits. There are other partners involved. They weren't opene when we visited but will be when we go back to the County.

Picture - Black Prince Winery Entrance just outside of Picton

Picture - Main Tasting Romm and Wine Shop are located in what appears to be a converted home. We had heard runours that this winery wasn't going to be open to the public and were just going to service the hospitality trade. Nothing could be further from the truth from our experience. They went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Picture - Black Prince Armour, in keeping with the name of this winery. You see it as you come through the front entrance

Picture - Tasting Bar with Black Prince decor. Again keeping with the medievil theme. This was viewed as you came through the front entrance and walked up the stairs. The main tasting room was located in the back.

Picture - Grounds behind the tasting room and vineyards of Black Prince. On these ground a medievil celebration was held which included actual jousting duels. Prior to the duels patrons could sample Black Princes wines along with olde English foods and play olde English games of quintain and ring toss.

Picture - Entrance to Huff Estates Winery

Picture - Walkway to tasting room and production facilites of Huff Estates. Notice the elevated building on the upper right hand side. These would be the tanks that used gravity partially in the production of wine. The winery has a production capacity of 15000 cases

Picture - Tasting Room and Wine Shop. The design of the shop is a modern concrete steel and glass look.

Picture - Patio view as taken from the tasting room immediately in front.

Picture - Front of the tasting romm and Patio notice the concrete and glass structure. If you recall the walkway to the tasting room you see how it juts out from the ground behind it. It's design reminds some people of a Napa Valley winery.
